Project 365: Illuminated by the Wolf Moon
Taken with my Nikon as zoomed in as humanely possible lol. According to my local paper, it’s not just any moon, it’s a Wolf Moon, capitalized just so. The brightest the moon can ever get in January. How cool is that? Maybe that’s why my sister’s dog is barking his head off. Then again he doesn’t need a moon to give into his basest of instincts lol. I should get...

Project 365: I Can See Your Backside
Last night, I met up with Bee from TKO and her friend Eve. We went and saw Phoenix at the Joint. I decided - since I was thisclose to passing out from not eating for almost 12 hours and because I had to work the next day - to cut out early. I parked on the 4th floor of the Hard Rock’s parking garage, and I couldn’t believe the view. This was taken at 1 in the morning, so it counts...

Project 365: Flowers, Not Brandon
My supervisor stole flowers from centerpieces at a pre-convention meeting and gave them to us girls at work. We had a vase under our sink and so we put them in there for everyone to admire. I like it. It’s a splash of color in a dreary workplace. :)

Project 365: No Soup for You!
Tonight’s dinner: Campbell’s New England clam chowder, and orange juice for my throat. Mmm, clam chowder. Still feeling icky. But I’m going out tomorrow night, and I’m gonna fight the last vestiges of this sinus attack with all I’ve got tonight. Wish me luck!

Project 365: Superior Eats, Bro
My second photo because I missed Sunday. The NSSA (Nevada State Student Alliance) bought Capriotti’s for us today. Bobbie! How I love thee. They did it under the guise of welcoming us back. They also did it to encourage us to write letters to the governor and other assorted government flunkies. The Nevada state legislature is contemplating budget cuts AGAIN. *le sigh* I swear to God, if...

Project 365: Ready for School
Sorry for missing yesterday. I’ll post doubles tomorrow to make up for it. I was certifiably ill and couldn’t find a suitable subject. I’m still feeling icky but I am a fighter. I’m pretty sure it’s just allergies. I hope. *crosses fingers* I really need to find a way to make it easier to post photos everyday. Otherwise I will prolly need to drop out of this. :( ...

Project 365: Outside
Since I’m pretty much stuck in an office all day, I usually walk outside to get to our employee dining room. It’s nice to breathe the fresh air for a few minutes. Since it’s been so cool these last few days, walking in the cold is always a welcome shock to my system. However, walking outside without a jacket on - as brief as it is - is also probably why I am currently sniffling...

Project 365: Snow Capped Mountains
The only thing I like about the rain is that it brings snow to the mountains. I love that we have mountains in Vegas that get snow. Where I lived in central Northern California, you truly had to go to the mountains (Lake Tahoe, etc) to even SEE snow. Vegas is a bowl. Locals call it the Las Vegas Valley. Vegas was the first place I saw snow around where I lived and didn’t have to drive two...

Project 365: Centerpiece'd
I won an award at work a few months ago. It’s a pat on the back from convention goers who like the work that we do for them. I mean, I don’t go out and hustle for the award. But if a conventioneer notices my good work, then thank you. Anyways, every few months my employer holds a luncheon for all the award winners throughout the whole property. Today was the luncheon for the award...

Project 365: Don't You Wanna Come With Me?
Today’s shot is of the marquee for the Glass Pool Inn on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. It was featured prominently in the video for “Bones” by the Killers, directed by Tim Burton… hence the title. ;) And according to my research, it had a wonderful tenure at its location, starring in iconic Vegas films and themed magazine pictorials. They tore down the pool and...

Project 365: How Pretentious
Today was my first day of the spring semester. Altogether not too bad. So today’s picture is obviously school related. My first assignment in World Lit II was to read “Tartuffe” by Moliere. My teacher in that class said that everything that we’re reading in that class can be found online, and if we’re waiting for our textbooks (which I am), we have no excuse not to...

Project 365: Sore Losers
Monopoly is our favorite board game to play in our house. I had a Monopoly board that I bought when I was ten years old, and I had it for YEARS. That board - and game - was/is very special to me. I think I got a gift card, or Christmas money or summat, and I had just enough to buy it for myself. Mom took care of taxes. :) I even remember how I got it. I did my research in the Toys...

Project 365: Under the Table
These are my feet under my desk at work. I was going to post a picture of my desk and the office (I took pictures of both subjects), but I thought better of it. I know, I have my own desk! lol. Still crazy to me. But it’s kinda nice. I can see everything. I can see people coming and going. I wish I had walls though. Now THAT would be cool. Speaking of the shoes, I am wearing black Mary...

Project 365: The Lean Over
I took this picture last night with every intention of posting it. But as you may have noticed, I missed yesterday. As soon as I got home and ate dinner, I fell asleep as soon as I got home. That’s how tired I was. So I am double-posting today. :) There is something wrong with this picture. And I don’t mean the moving cars in the background. Do not adjust your computer screens: the...

Project 365: All Comes Crashing Down
This is a chandelier that you see when you’re passing by the North Convention Center at Mandalay Bay. It looks better in person. I kinda took it clandestinely as well. Just sort of aimed my phone upwards as I was leaving work tonight.

Project 365: Built like a Refrigerator
This is my fridge. These are the magnets on my fridge. Yes, I have a fridge in my room. :) I bought it at Target for $70 and some change. It went on sale during Christmas for something like $40. Fail. lol. The magnet on the left is from my last trip to Disneyland. When we stopped in Huntington Beach, I got a cheapy California magnet. To the right of that is the digital picture frame Ate got me...

Project 365: No One's Gonna Take Me Alive
This is a flier from work showing all the pertinent info for one of the biggest nights of my life this year: Muse at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in April. \m/ It says “internal distribution” so I’m not even sure if I should be taking a picture of this, but I think I’ll risk it. I blurred out the phone numbers, and everything else is stuff you could find out elsewhere....

Project 365: Lookin' Out My Window
I took my car to the car wash, among the many other errands and chores that I accomplished today. This is looking out from the passenger side window onto Ft Apache at one of the many Walgreens on that street. However, it might’ve been a futile pursuit getting the car washed in the first place. ForecastFox is predicting that a jet stream - El Nino style - is headed our way from Japan over...

Project 365: Dinnertiems
Ate bought Chinese food for dinner. So tonight’s story is about soup. I’ve been craving soup for ages, I’m not even sure why. But we don’t have any canned soup, or even stuff to make soup with, and the soup at work is kinda scurry. As I was assembling my plate (fried rice and beef and vegetables, don’t like sweet & sour pork), I take notice that my dad is...

Project 365: View from the Top
This is a back view of the Strip from the sixth floor employee parking garage at Mandalay Bay. You can make out the Palms, the Rio and some of the towers at CityCenter. I love working where I do because we don’t get the crazies like you would farther down the Strip. I know the ins and outs so well, I can make it from one end of the Strip to the other using Frank Sinatra in ten minutes. If...

Project 365: My Haven
This is my computer desk, my home within my home. Marvelous, isn’t it? I always wanted a corner desk. This is a hand-me-down from my Ate. I was waiting and watching the sales for ages before she offered, “I’ll just give you mine. I need a new one anyways.” The only problem with it is that there is an extra piece that is supposed to hold up the bottom was smacked around a...

Project 365: The End of an Era
I recently became the number one lead in my department at work. Along with more pay, a set schedule, more hours, benefits and everything else I didn’t have when I was an extra board, comes more responsibility. I can’t believe how much a lead is supposed to do. I’m in charge of the day to day duties in the department. Not that I can’t handle it. I did a lot of that when I...

Project 365: Aww Nutz
This is a kukui nut necklace. I got them from my older brother Kuya G several years ago. He’s been stationed in Hawai’i for awhile now, so he’s pretty assimilated into the Hawai’ian culture. They’re not really my style to wear but they’re the perfect “family detector.” At a previous house we rented, my room was made in such a way that you had to...

Project 365: Gimme a Kiss
This is my pencil jar. I have had it since 7th or 8th grade, I forget. My best friend’s mom at the time bought it for my whole family. I hella kept it and ate all the Kisses, haha. Growing up, I never really had a pencil jar to call my own. So when I was done eating it all, it became my pencil jar. As you can tell - by all the photos I’ve posted so far - I keep things for a very,...

Project 365: Simba
This is my dog Simba. My preciousss. He’s a Golden Retriever, Rottweiler, Chow mix. He’s the pogi-est dog you’ll ever meet. Every time without fail, when I take him to the vet and I’m struggling to get him to quit lunging everywhere, people will see us in the aisles, and say “That’s a beautiful dog.” :) After we found out that our other dog Kellie had...

Project 365: Jasmine
Yeah, I know. My pictures so far are really boring, haha. But that’s my life, so deal with it. :) This is a photograph of jasmine that is sitting on our front porch. We don’t have big porches in Vegas but we all try to dress them up as best as we can. My dad - despite living in a desert environment and trying to convince him that having leafy plants is futile - insisted I go and...

Project 365: Spiritus Sancti
This is my family’s altar. There is a little ledge in our house over our stairs that was perfect for it when we moved in. My mom’s cousin recently informed her that having an altar facing the stairs was bad, so my mom says we have to move it elsewhere. There’s something comforting about passing it on the stairs everyday though. I will admit I don’t go to Church as much...

Project 365: Turn the Alarm On
We have an alarm on our house. My dad usually sets it before we go to sleep. This cleaning sign is left over from his working days. My dad - after he retired from the Navy - worked at a Winchell’s as an assistant manager. I LOVED getting free chocolate donuts from him when we went to visit. He wasn’t supposed to give them to me or my little brother, but he still did. Anyways, when...

Project 365: Three
I decided to participate in Project 365. You take a picture everyday for a year. Photojojo has a lovely tutorial if you are interested. It doesn’t necessarily have to start on January 1. You can pick an arbitrary day and start then. Just so happens I was pondering doing it for the new year and so I’ve got a reminder set in my phone’s calendar to do so. I also don’t...
